The general knowledge CDL exam contains knowledge and safe driving questions that all commercial drivers should know. You must pass a test on general knowledge to receive a CDL. The exam does not have specific questions on air brakes, combination vehicles, doubles, or passenger vehicles. Those subjects are covered in separate tests. Pre-trip inspection is also covered in a separate test. The general knowledge test does include basic information on hazardous materials that all drivers should know. Our CDL practice test covers the subjects listed above and much more.
